For the past three and half months, I’ve ventured to online publishing. I must admit, the road to this industry is quite tough. There are more than 2 million domains around the world and everyone is competing to get attention. This business is actually worst than an insensitive corporate employment. You cannot control the whole system, the system will control you. In this period of venture, I almost forgot the main reason why I should blog. I almost forgot my motivation in writing the words. I almost forgot why I optimize my websites. I almost forgot why I promote and market my websites. Somehow, I left my heart under my table and languidly drag my fingers and arms to accomplish things which I should be dedicating to that cause that keeps me alive. I wondered aimlessly and sucking everything that I could learn. I was like a robot. Everything that I do seemingly consume all the willpower that I have which should not be the case if you love what you do. I hate that feeling.
Aside from emotional turmoil, I’ve also noticed that I was also not being productive at all. My “real self” was not really in the things that I would like to accomplish. It was like every day would be a struggle to pass a gauntlet.
First off, my decision to venture to blogging is not all about money. It’s about that opportunity to talk to people in a worldwide scale. It’s about sharing my story and listening to their story as well. There is so much power in this opportunity. I love connecting to people and making friends. We are already living the concept of “global community” which I first heard when I was in elementary. Internet is a breakthrough that changes the entire landscape of the world.
Another reason is the fact that I would like to make a difference (yeah sounds like a cliche). I’m a fan of self education and I’ve been thinking how I can use technology to help my people. I’m working on a small project called Guerrilla Hope Movement and there are a lot of plans about this. I would let you know if there has been progress in the project but I believe I’m making small steps that would contribute to my goals. Actually I’ve been talking to people. On October 26 this year, I will meet newbie online publishers and hopefully this community will soon be my partners in GHM. Little by little, I’m seeing my vision turning into a reality. I wont say much about this project for the reason that I don’t want o preempt anything. ;) I wish you would all pray for me. :) This is a project that would also touch your heart.
Last reason for this venture is the fact that this is really my dream. I never had the chance to touch a computer when I was in elementary. It was only in my high school years that I started operating computer on my own. I first met Internet when I was in college. I was very amazed. It stunned me. I wouldn’t deny that I’m a nerd. I love reading and learning. And you would surely agree that Internet is one of the best platforms for nerds like me. Back in college years, I’ve dreamed of having my own website. And true enough, I’ve finally accomplished this dream. I’m not only working on one website. I’m developing 10 domains :)
I believe that you can really never change the journey set for you. Yes, you can walk astray, take a sudden turn, and take detours but the destination set on your heart will always be the same. It’s a built-in compass. Don’t struggle against it. You cannot change the journey set by a heart but expect that it will change you along the way. At the end of the day, every turns that you’ve taken, detours you’ve tried, and corners you’ve passed are all pointing to the direction set by your heart. Always ask for guidance to understand your heart.
