Wise people thought me long ago that if you want to be ‘like” someone someday, emulate and copy what they do. Habits are some of the most ignored aspects of judging a person’s character. Unknowingly, we miss the very essence of people when we dismiss seemingly trivial habits of a man. Know their habits and you’ll uncover hundreds of secrets. So if you want to be someone who would own a company someday, mimic, emulate, and copy the habits of people who have done it and know why they maintains such a routine! Get Up Early. After all, early birds catch the worms!
You know you’ve forgotten to take a shower when . . .
Oh yeah, shower and changing clothes are mundane habits that most freelancers would miss for the sake of billing the hours and delivering what is promised. Cheeers guys! You’re not Alone!
Hygiene Tips: Do not forget to workout. Aside from keeping you fit, it will also force you to take shower. Geez I expect that everybody hates working while stinking, right? ;)
Clients’ Most Common Reason for Delayed Payments
What do you do with this explanation? Of course, you can’t kill them with an axe ;) Ok here’s the thing, try to kill them with kindness instead but be smart. Once is enough, Twice is Stupidity at its finest.
That’s why we always recommend for milestone payment for fixed price projects. It is worth to try to deal with clients on Freelance platforms like Elance, oDesk, and other platforms with high security guarantee. Check this link out for our suggestions.
This only shows that classics are still the best material that you should be intellectually devouring.

We’ve always believed that Freelancers are “Rebels” by nature! Here’s a very compelling Manifesto from Rebel Mouse’s blog. Share it if you’re a hardcore rebel! :D
For the past three and half months, I’ve ventured to online publishing. I must admit, the road to this industry is quite tough. There are more than 2 million domains around the world and everyone is competing to get attention. This business is actually worst than an insensitive corporate employment. You cannot control the whole system, the system will control you. In this period of venture, I almost forgot the main reason why I should blog. I almost forgot my motivation in writing the words. I almost forgot why I optimize my websites. I almost forgot why I promote and market my websites. Somehow, I left my heart under my table and languidly drag my fingers and arms to accomplish things which I should be dedicating to that cause that keeps me alive. I wondered aimlessly and sucking everything that I could learn. I was like a robot. Everything that I do seemingly consume all the willpower that I have which should not be the case if you love what you do. I hate that feeling.
Aside from emotional turmoil, I’ve also noticed that I was also not being productive at all. My “real self” was not really in the things that I would like to accomplish. It was like every day would be a struggle to pass a gauntlet.
First off, my decision to venture to blogging is not all about money. It’s about that opportunity to talk to people in a worldwide scale. It’s about sharing my story and listening to their story as well. There is so much power in this opportunity. I love connecting to people and making friends. We are already living the concept of “global community” which I first heard when I was in elementary. Internet is a breakthrough that changes the entire landscape of the world.
Another reason is the fact that I would like to make a difference (yeah sounds like a cliche). I’m a fan of self education and I’ve been thinking how I can use technology to help my people. I’m working on a small project called Guerrilla Hope Movement and there are a lot of plans about this. I would let you know if there has been progress in the project but I believe I’m making small steps that would contribute to my goals. Actually I’ve been talking to people. On October 26 this year, I will meet newbie online publishers and hopefully this community will soon be my partners in GHM. Little by little, I’m seeing my vision turning into a reality. I wont say much about this project for the reason that I don’t want o preempt anything. ;) I wish you would all pray for me. :) This is a project that would also touch your heart.
Last reason for this venture is the fact that this is really my dream. I never had the chance to touch a computer when I was in elementary. It was only in my high school years that I started operating computer on my own. I first met Internet when I was in college. I was very amazed. It stunned me. I wouldn’t deny that I’m a nerd. I love reading and learning. And you would surely agree that Internet is one of the best platforms for nerds like me. Back in college years, I’ve dreamed of having my own website. And true enough, I’ve finally accomplished this dream. I’m not only working on one website. I’m developing 10 domains :)
I believe that you can really never change the journey set for you. Yes, you can walk astray, take a sudden turn, and take detours but the destination set on your heart will always be the same. It’s a built-in compass. Don’t struggle against it. You cannot change the journey set by a heart but expect that it will change you along the way. At the end of the day, every turns that you’ve taken, detours you’ve tried, and corners you’ve passed are all pointing to the direction set by your heart. Always ask for guidance to understand your heart.
When I first thought of online publishing and blogging, many people told me that the idea was “crazy” and the competition is quite stiff for a newcomer. They even convinced me that the idea was “totally crazy”. I must admit, I had also thought that it was “crazy” BUT that is how adventures are made, right?
My agenda is not really to compete. I would like to share my insights and not just about random rumblings about freelancing. I am also lobbying for the greater benefit of freelancers since there have been many instances and cases of freelancers being virtually abused around the world. Freelancing is a tough career choice and it would be somehow comforting to be around with people who can relate to what you are going through. Thus, I would like to form a freelancer’s community who will support and empower fellow freelancing professionals. Independence and codependency. I can also call myself a lobbyist. I am from Philippines. I would like the Philippine Government to heed to my advocacy of granting online professionals (individually operating vs. those operating and functioning as online agencies) tax exemption or at least tax incentives since it is a rising industry which can have a greater impact to the country in many ways (I am planning to write about this by the way). These are not just crazy thoughts, are they?
More often than not, people are afraid of hearing these type of loud and bigger ideas which they have had never heard of. People doubt. Before they know it, they have missed a chance that could have had made the difference. Though these people have discouraged me to proceed with my ideas, I still offered them to collaborate with me on the project. Alas, to no avail. It’s quite frustrating since a freelancing career needs a lot of optimism and creativity and most of those people that I invited to hop in to this “crazy” idea responded with very discouraging counter-ideas.
Well, the show must go on and this crazy idea must live and shine to the world!
There’s no better way to handle these negativity than proving them wrong. AoaFY will formally launch on October 4 (well, that is my birthday. Hopefully, these people would change their minds and view this “crazy ideas” in a more proactive and complementary perspective. With this in mind, I would like to invite you to contribute to AoaFY. Share your stories, tips, success, challenges you’ve encountered, write about yourself, and etc. It would be awesome if you can reach us by emailing us here.
We hope to hear from you soon. God Bless everyone!
